abbiamo mangiato quasi tutto!
E, naturalmente i
tutto!
Stay tuned J

Last Sunday
we went to see cherry blossoms in a
place called Villanova d’Arda.
It’s a
really small town where many people have fields to cultivate cherry trees.
The night
before and that very morning I prepared the bento (=lunch box) for the hanami
(=lit. flower viewing). Actually we had a big bento, but we almost ate it all!
I prepared
a bento with some tiny Totoro shaped
onigiri (=rice balls) filled with tuna-mayo, salmon and umeboshi (=pickled
plums) all with some tomatoes, salad, salmon, ham-mozzarella cheese and
broccoli dango (=dumplings), and tofu&rice balls (some disguised as
makkurokurosuke/dust bunnies).
Then we had
3 sandwiches with ham / tuna and veggies. The fruit were apple slices rabbit
shaped. And of course the desserts: fruit baskets with custard and sakura
(=cherry blossom) biscuits made with the same recipes as the Easter rabbit
cookies, but this time covered in white chocolate with some dark and pink
chocolate sakura drawing on it.
What we
wanted to do was hanami: we wanted to sit under a cherry tree and have a picnic,
and then have a walk. Actually the sakura tree lands were closed when we
arrived so we had the picnic in the park. There we found a nice family and the
kid had fun playing with their two boys. We went all together to see some
butterfly and bugs exhibition near the park and at 2:30pm many people gathered
to start a long walk through the cherry trees. Those trees are in private lands
and cultivations that were opened for the occasion. It’s very different from
hanami, but we liked it anyway because the cherry blossoms are beautiful.
The
walk was quite long: 9 kilometers in total! It was a very sunny day, so it was
hot, but very nice. When we came home we were a bit tanned and very tired! But
it was a very good day!
In the next
post I’m going to share with you what we did this weekend.
Stay tuned J
